Have a Happy New Year!

I'm so excited about 2011!  I've got BIG plans, as I'm sure you all do as well. I love the idea of a fresh start (that's why I love Mondays), and a reason to do things bigger, better, and harder (as we should strive to do everyday). 2010 was one of the most spectacular years for me for many reasons:

1.  It was the first year I was completely self-employed and didn't rely on a paycheck from a 9 to 5 job (I'm still marveling over the amount of faith it took for me to do that).

2.  My husband and I fulfilled a dream/goal we had always wanted to achieve.

3.  My husband and I also took our commitment and love for one another to a higher level (I've known him for 25 years and he is my King).  We grow so much stronger as a couple, unit, and family each day.

4.  I sought out and found a place of worship that I respect, enjoy, and that gives me and my family the tools to increase our knowledge of self and God.

5.  I was fearless in the things I did to grow my business.  I changed the business name, my logo, I created a men's jewelry line and I sought out popular designers and business owners and asked several business related questions.

I'm going into the New Year with a positive outlook and knowing that 2011 will be even more spectacular, and filled with abundance. I thank you all for reading my blog and for being there through all the changes Bohemian Spirit has gone through this year.  I'll be taking a road trip with my family and celebratiing the New Year in San Francisco!  I"ll be back to blogging by January 4, 2011.  Be Safe + Many Blessing to you all!

Organic Market...

A few days ago I blogged about shopping at the only ALL organic store in Southern California (Goodwin's in Riverside). Well below are a few pics from my trip there.  It was about a 30 minute drive from my house...not too bad.  I can't wait to go back for some fresh brewed organic coffee! My hubby ordered some apple cider, and the barista squeezed the juice from 5 organic apples right in front of us...HELLO! Now that's what I call fresh!

Loc Lady...

Loving my "Loc Lady" (I named her that) picture by artist Nycole Owens.  I can't wait to mount it on the wall somewhere in my office.  I'm sure I'll be drawing inspiration from it as I create for my online shop.  This beautiful piece may have me doing a mini office redecorating project, because I'm going to need everything to be in sync with this art.....hehehe......I'm just saying ;)

Monday + Art...

Hope you all had a great weekend.  For my Southern California folks...haven't you enjoyed the rain? I have! I don't like driving in it, but I love being home with a blanket and a cup of something warm ;)

I actually had some fun pictures to share with you all today of the only ALL organic store in California - "Goodwin's."  The hubs and I went shopping there yesterday, and I fell in love with the selection of produce and the design of the market.  It really doesn't take much to excite me.  So after taking a dozen plus photos of the market, I accidentally left my camera there.  Luckily when I called this morning they said that they found it.  So once I pick it up today I'll upload some photo's and share with you guys.  In the meantime enjoy the art below from Nikki Owens, a talented artist I met a few weeks ago who I've commissioned to create a piece for my office.  She says the piece will be ready tomorrow! I'm so excited to see it!

Hey there...

I've been so busy filling holiday orders that I didn't have a chance to tell you good folks Happy Friday.  Well I hope you all had a great Friday, and are enjoying your weekend as well.  As for me I'll be attending a few holiday parties, having a mini luncheon at my house after church on Sunday (I'm thinking of making chili since the weather has been so yucky) and picking up my Dad from the airport Sunday evening :) So excited to see him.  See you back here on Monday!

Reminiscing...

The weather has been rather weird in Southern California lately. 80 degrees one day and 50 something degrees the next. Although I love this gloomy type of weather, this morning I found myself missing the sun.  It made me think of my anniversary trip to Hawaii last month (which the love of my life planned without me knowing), and how great the weather was there. *smiling just thinking about that lovely trip*

2011 tasks...

What things will you do differently at the start of the New Year?  I've committed to putting more energy into my business.  I've actually made several changes this year (new biz name, new website, new facebook page, new blog), but there's definitely still lots more work to do.  I'm always searching for like-minded folks to align myself with, and also resources that will help me grow.  One of my favorite things to do is jotting down notes, inspirational websites, tips, and ideas in a cute little notebook or journal to reference things i'd like to accomplish, research, or just design ideas for future BSJ collections.

Are any of you thinking of starting a business, or taking your business to the next level in 2011? How do you keep track of your goals? I'd love to know what your 2011 plans are.

Holiday wish list...

Me, the hubs, and our lil' guy are exchanging holiday wish lists tonight.  I really don't need anything, but I always have something that I've been eyeballing, so I will be composing a list for them.  I see these gifts as end-of-the year appreciation gifts for being a great mother and wife (that's a good one huh?:).  I'm eager to see what they've listed too!  Below are 5 items I'm currently lusting over that will make it onto my list.

Are there any items on your holiday wish list that you are hoping to receive?

Keurig Coffee Maker

Gray Steve Madden Boots

B&N gift card to buy books & mags for my Nook Color

New VW Beetle...a girl can dream can't she?

Mountaintop Broadway play tickets!

Happy Friday ~ Family rituals

We are another week closer to Christmas!  I'm excited because my father is coming into town, and we are having our annual family Christmas Eve party this year which got cancelled last year :(  Our Christmas Eve party is so much fun! We have a bake off with all of the grandchildren (there's like 14 of us).  We sing karaoke, bake homemade pizza's, and we exchange gifts with the family members we won't see on Christmas Day.  It's such a fun time, and we all look forward to it every year.  So those are two major things that I'm looking forward to this Christmas.  Do any of you have any holiday family rituals?  If so, what does your family do?

Well enjoy your Friday.  It's beautiful out today in my neck of the woods, but I'll be working and finessing my packaging.  I like how it's coming along so far. Now I'm just working on better packaging for the products that go inside of the sack. Wish me luck ;)

Growing my business...

I've got all sorts of great news! Well one bit of news I can't reveal yet, but I'm truly excited and I should be able to share more details with you all next month when things are finalized.  The news I can share is I've finally decided to create a men's line of jewelry in 2011. I've named the collection Ethereal for Men, and it will be elegant, unique, and made with fine and masculine materials. My most recent custom order requests from a male client is what inspired me to finally design a full collection for men. I've already been jotting notes, and choosing beads for the type of designs I will create (since I can't draw worth a dang..lol).

Below is a picture of one of the many custom designs I've created for the client I mentioned above. He absolutely loved the most recent one! That pleased me and also let me know that I'm on the right track for the new collection.  This bracelet is for sale by special order only.  Please email me at bohemianspiritjewelry{at)gmail{dot}com if you are interested in ordering it.

Fly Art

I'm really loving the Untitled Hair prints by the talented author/graphic designer Andrea Pippins.  Andrea's blog Fly is one of my daily reads that I go to for fashion, art, and sista friend inspiration. I love her prints because they encourage African American women to love the hair they were born with!  I will be purchasing all 3 prints for my home.

You can read more about Andrea HERE and purchase her prints HERE.

Coming up for air...

Hey there good people! Sorry for the lack of blog posts, but I'm just now coming up for air after my Black Friday sale (packing/shipping).  Hopefully all of you have received your orders, and if not...I promise they are on the way.  As of today, all Black Friday orders have been shipped.  As always, thanks for your patience and support.

How was your Thanksgiving? Well my anniversary fell on Thanksgiving this year and we had the family over at our house.  It was very laid back, and my mom cooked everything, so that was nice.  We took off for our anniversary trip 2 days after Thanksgiving and I must admit.....It was bliss!  We dined out, spent time on the beach, and toured some cultural sites.  I also spent lots of time thinking and reflecting on things I wanted to accomplish in the coming years, and also marveling at how brave we women are in ALL that we do.  We are so strong, and I'm beginning to realize my strength on a daily basis.  I love get-a-ways because they give me time to relax and clear my head.

While away my hubby bought me a necklace at Kate Spade.  I saw it, and the words moved me, and I absolutely had to have it!  It says "Take a Chance."  I think I will :)
