Another Boho-Chic Thursday

Happy Thursday, I'm assuming that memorial day weekend was just as spectacular for everyone as it was for me. However you chose to spend your day remembering the fallen ones, I hope it was memorable.

I think this collection refreshing with its neutral, bright, fun, and freeness just like the summer breeze. The latest Denim and Supply by Ralph Lauren is almost entirely of white and olive...who ever said we need more colors to stand out.

Changes..

Hope you all had a fabulous 3 day weekend. Mine was very simple...no BBQ included :( But, I managed to survive...Lol! I attended my home church on Sunday and they had the most beautiful tribute for our service men and women. There was not a dry eye in the church house. My father served in the Vietnam War, and luckily is fine today. But I know several of our past soldiers and current ones have fought for this country with such bravery and for that I would like to say...we appreciate YOU and Thank you!

Anyhoo, the weather is finally warming up here in Southern California and I am excited about it staying this way for a while. I haven't done much shopping for any summer items and I probably won't be for a while. We are sending a young man off to college in 6 years...Yikes..So currently our finances are a focus in this household. We are doing a financial overhaul and it really feels good. Over the next few years we are focusing on saving, and hopefully doing a bit of traveling....material items are an afterthought. Over the last year or so my hubby and I have realized that we have so much fun enjoying the little things. When we were both employed full-time and making tons of money we just bought things, things, and more things. Not that it was bad to do that, but it didn't make us any happier than we already were. It can become a vicious cycle where you start wanting something bigger than the last thing you purchased. A better car, a bigger home, a larger television....you get it I'm sure. So since we have downsized tremendously, and became self-employed, we have learned the value of spending time, taking walks, riding our bikes, going to $1 taco night for dinner, having friends over for games and wine...sweet little things like that. :) Those are the moments that have become most important for us. Believe me, we still love nice cars, and beach front homes, but we know that those aren't the most important things for us. So now we are embarking on a new journey to make our family's future more secure by saving more money and learning how to budget tighter. This is going to be nice in the long run, but tough. I'll definitely keep you all posted, especially since I've been yearning for some new summer dresses and sandals....ahahahaha!

Have any of you done a financial overhaul lately? Any book recommendations would be lovely!

Something Boho & Chic

Happy lovely Thurday people! only few days ago, we were just getting into the spirit of May and whatever happened to 24hrs actually lasting...not this month, it flew right by with less than a week left of it. Anywho, I bet you all made your creative best out of it. I'm so glad to be done with finals but I have my plate full and that's a good thing.

On the more exciting note of fashionable Boho chic inspiration, The maxi skirts are definitely still in full swing this season, and was true of last spring/summer too. I gathered few of my favorites...hope you adore them as well.

I fell in love with these
Mango Spring collection late last year but lost the photos in a different file. Each piece is an epitome of feminine elegance. I especially love that the model look so laid back and yet able to transition into each look without loosing the simplicity.  The collection does it all from maxis skirts, blazers, jumpsuits, and the perfect color combinations.

So what do you think about the collection, thus far?

Be Happy

Many of you have probably seen this " 15 Things..." article circulating around the net as I have. I hadn't taken the time to read it until today, but I'm glad I did! It speaks to me and the life I've been actively seeking for the past year or so.  So, I've decided to share it with you all (in case you weren't hip to it) along with my NEW project that I'm excited about. I believe that we sometimes need daily reminders to be happy. Maybe it works best for someone to wake up and see this on their nightstand, or in their workspace...Anyhoo, I think it's a great affirmation!
I hope you enjoy them both. :)

15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy!

Here is a list of 15 things which, if you give up on them, will make your life a lot easier and much, much happier. We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering – and instead of letting them all go, instead of allowing ourselves to be stress free and happy – we cling on to them. Not anymore. Starting today we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go:
1. GIVE UP YOUR NEED TO ALWAYS BE RIGHT
There are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong – wanting to always be right – even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain, for us and for others. It’s just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question: “Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?” Wayne Dyer. What difference will that make? Is your ego really that big?
2. GIVE UP YOUR NEED FOR CONTROL
Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you – situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones, coworkers, or just strangers you meet on the street – just allow them to be. Allow everything and everyone to be just as they are and you will see how much better will that make you feel.
“By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond winning.” Lao Tzu
3. GIVE UP ON BLAME
Give up on your need to blame others for what you have or don’t have, for what you feel or don’t feel. Stop giving your powers away and start taking responsibility for your life.

Accessories...

For over a year now the tagline on my website has read "Online Jewelry & Accessories Boutique." Accessories...hmmm...Well I've finally decided to put the word "accessories" into motion. I'm excited to show you all what I've been working on, and I'm even more excited about providing something that promotes positivity & self-love. I truly believe that women need to stay empowered, encouraged, and uplifted constantly & simple positive reminders always help me get through the day.

Anyhoo, stay tuned for the new accessories and some new jewelry designs I've been working on that remind me of my original work when I first started BSJ (formerly Brace Yourself Boutique for those of you who've been around that long ;).

Zara Hues + Free Spirits

With this feature, I felt the urge to reiterate the spring/Summer color adorables again. Zara as always did justice to the season with the simplicity filled with stylish pastel hues. Hope you like it too.

The Simple Life...

Hey there! Hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day! I watched movies all day with my Mom and Sis...It was exactly how I wanted to spend my Mother's Day...I love simplicity. Anyhoo, I'm preparing a big wholesale order for a new boutique in Australia. Exciting! I'll be checking in later on today with a better post. Hope you all have a beautiful day!

A mix of Summer + Fall Boho-Chic

Good day! I hope your May is up to a great start. The weather has been amazing so far...So it's perfect timing to get moving with all those bright and sunny ideas you've harboured all winter long.

Forgive my scatter brain today...but I could not stick to just one feature! Hence the range of things.

Mango Summer 2012
I adore the neutrality, simplicity, and sophistication of these looks.
The model, Anna Selezneva in her effortless way added the glam vibe for the catalogue.

Spell's winter 2012 Collection
What I love is the photography of this collection.
It portrays that free spirit that we so love...

Elizabeth and James | Fall 2012 TEXTILE Line
These collection definitely speaks to the casual and laid back seeking chic. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen absolutely stayed true to their comfy zone, but with a twist of military, sporty, and vintage inspiration.

(For some reason, I was expecting a loose knit oversized sweater but this is an interesting surprise from them)
