Boho Monday...

And the weekend is over...just that fast! This is what I said I'd be doing over the weekend, but I ended up doing way more than expected. We (me, hubs, & son) actually hit up the Watts Festival on Saturday and then I forgot we had a Breaking Bad finale party to attend. Both were low-key events, so I still felt like I was relaxing. I'll share a few pictures from my weekend tomorrow.

But today I want to introduce you to some lovely Bohemian finds....Sigh....I'm so in love! I've starting updating my Pinterest page again where you'll find some other boho loves of mine. Enjoy!

Happenings...

Hey there! Happy Fall! I'm so excited about the weather change that I've been in the nesting mood lately. You know...organizing, changing out a few decor pieces to reflect the season, pulling blankets out of the closet and strategically placing them throughout the house for "snuggle" purposes. Fall is normally the time of year that I cook more too. Monday I made ground turkey tacos with black beans and an avocado salad, and Tuesday I made baked lemon pepper salmon with red potatoes and a butter lettuce and asian pear salad. Ya' girl been doing her domestic thing...hehehehe ;) The hubs loves it!

Anyhoo, while organizing and getting things done around the house, I decided to create a small office space in our bedroom for myself. It's coming along quite well but there are still a few things I need like a rug, a bulletin board and a small lamp would be nice too. Below is my progress and also a few other things that are tickling my fancy right now!

Enjoy!

Happy Monday!

Hey there! Hope you all had a restful weekend! I actually did a lot of relaxing and spent time with great friends and family. As a matter of fact that is all that I did...Lol! It felt so good to be "in the moment" laughing, chatting, eating, and fellowshipping with people I love. What a great way to start my week off.

Anyhoo, I wanted to share my new blog obsession with you all. I don't know if you've ever heard of the Urban Bush Babes blog, but I'm completely smitten with the content they post. The two gorgeous naturalista's, Nikisha and Cipriana who founded the blog post regularly about their personal journeys, music, art, love, spirituality, and natural hair care. If you are into those sort of topics, then you definitely should check it out.

Below are a few images from the UBB Blog...

Peace...

Thank God that the weekend is almost here. Not that I have any grand plans, but just the thought of relaxing a bit is extra appealing right now.

I want to keep with the theme of "living in the moment" similar to yesterdays post here and just touch a bit on being peaceful in that moment. Over the past few days I've found myself thinking about how I want the next phase of my life to look (40+) if God grants me life and breath for that long. As I think about what I want, there's one word that constantly pops up and that's peace. I want peace of mind, peace in my home, peace in my relationships, peace in my parenting skills, peace in my business risks, peace in myself. So in an effort to gain complete peace in my life I need to spend more time living in the moment, reading my bible, and leaning on my faith and the word of God amongst many other things. But also, doing things that I love and that have always put me in a peaceful space which are  designing jewelry, practicing yoga, and reading daily affirmation books.

Anyhoo, I've already began designing jewelry again on a regular basis and will be launching my fall BSJ line at the end of this month which I'm super excited about! And I've gotten back into reading my affirmation books which I'll share with you below. Also, I'll be starting my yoga on Monday via Wii Fit which my son has so graciously offered to hook up for me.

Well, I hope I haven't bored you all to death with my "peace" talk...Lol! I always think that maybe someone else out there may be going through life-introspective stuff like me. If so, please share...I'd love to know that I'm not the only one ;).

Guilty as charged.....

I must admit that I felt super guilty after watching this video, and I have pledged to do better, live in the moment more, and know that everyone doesn't need to know everything I'm doing at all times. For those of you who follow me on instagram, you know that I post regularly. However, today as a part of my "living in the moment more frequently" pledge, I'm deciding to post less on insta, but with more meaningful content when I do post. Does that make sense? I'm also guilty of pulling my phone out at a party, or concert to capture moments when I should just be soaking it all in. Oh God, technology is going to be the death of our relationships, lives, and real time moments. Yep, it's time to disconnect a bit. Wish me luck!

Anyone out there guilty as charged as well after seeing this video? If so, take the pledge with me to do better, and live in the moment more, and let's hold one another accountable. We can do this!

Mara Hoffman

Fashion week is such a huge deal, and although I love fashion, I've never been one to get caught up in all of the goings on during that time. But, last night I ran across the Mara Hoffman Spring 2014 runway video and well....let me just say I'm absolutely crazy over her new collection. I've always been a fan of how Mara combines cultural elements with a bohemian vibe to her clothing...it's a perfect fit for a boho chick like me.

Do you get into the festivities of fashion week? If so, what was your favorite collection that debuted this year?

The no fuss look....

Hey guys! Hope you all had an eventful weekend. Well, I just wanted to stop in and share my new love for effortless fashion...you know that look that is put together, but looks like you just threw it on before exiting the house. Yep, that's the new look that I absolutely love! I call it the "no fuss look."

Two of the women who I believe pull that look off perfectly are Halle Berry and Nicole Murphy. I've been a fan of Berry's look for a while now, but I'm just discovering Nicole Murphy's boho chic style. As I approach the big 4-0 (next year...eek) I've come to appreciate low key fashion staples like long cardigans in every color, good fitting jeans, chic scarves, billowy tunic style tops, and good quality maxi dresses. These are items that I'm willing to pay a bit extra for because I know they are transitional pieces that I can wear year round in California.

Below are a few of the looks I love from these two gorgeous boho-chic women! Do you appreciate this style as well?

Friendship...

7 years ago I lost my best friend of 20+ years and the God-mother of my son. No, she didn't die, but our friendship did. When I think back on how the friendship ended it seems so stupid, and if I explained the story to you, you'd probably be just as perplexed as I was 7 years ago. Anyhow, at the time I was a "toughy" and rationalized it as oh well, her bad....I'm the best friends she's ever had. Wrong approach and thinking, and how ignorant and arrogant of me to think that way. I've lived and learned a lot about friendship since then.

Fast forward to February 2013 when I was invited to a mutual friend of ours B-day party and my ex-best friend was there. We hadn't spoken or seen each other in 7 years. We were inseparable that evening. We talked all night. We texted the next day. We met up 2 weeks later and talked until 3 a.m. We met again the weekend after and talked and cried about a sisterhood lost for 7 years. We apologized for things we had and had not done. We've made amends. We've both changed for the better. We've both grown up a hell of a lot. I do consider her my sister, my family and my great friend again.

It has been such a fun summer with her in my life, and I'm happy to be there for her again as well. Friendship means everything to me and the women in my life are so important. I have several acquaintances, but there are only a few women that I call my true friends; women that I share my heart aches, joys, dreams, and sorrows with.

To my besties, my boo thangs, my bff's, my sister friends......I love you guys to pieces & I seriously don't know what I would do without you all.
