Overcoming ME...

My wheels are spinning right now with all of the information I want to share on today's post. This may need to be a 2 parter....Lol! I want to share a personal story about how I've overcome some obstacles in my life which have allowed me love myself more, be a better person, foster phenomenal relationships, and build a better business.

First I'd like to share with you a bit of personal information about myself. As a child I was painfully shy.....no really! I was very introverted, quiet, scared of boys, and a host of other "different" things. However I always found my shyness quite odd because no one in my family was. Lol! I ended up carrying that shyness into my adult life and it was always very uncomfortable for me, and for others. It sometimes made people think that I was standoffish or mean, when actually I was and am incredibly cool people...Lol! But at the time I was just unsure of myself, and too nervous to strike up a conversation with people I didn't know. In the past, being shy has caused me to let a lot of important and fantastic opportunities in my life slip by. Unfortunately I can't get those moments back, but I have made a promise and a constant effort to not let my shyness get in the way of missing out on what this life has to offer ME. When I decided to start Bohemian Spirit Jewelry and Sip n' Shop, Girls Night Out, I knew that being unsure of myself and shyness just didn't go together with business or sales (unless you don't need to interact with people), and so I had to figure out a way to overcome my fear of communicating with people. But most importantly I had to find a way to be confident in who I was, and embrace my "uniqueness" and not let it hinder me from my passions.

People say you need to crawl before you can walk, and take baby steps when learning something new, but I believe that sometimes you have to do radical things if you want radical change.  Tomorrow I'll share some of the steps I took to overcome my shyness and how that translated into a better me and a flourishing business.

  1. I totally can relate to this post. I am introverted and really shy by nature. I also understand that it does not help when you're trying to run a business. This continues to be a struggle for me, but everyday I try to take a step to overcome that shyness. I appreciate your post because something you said has been an extreme eye opener for me, you said "sometimes you have to do radical things if you want radical change." I totally agree! I am taking that advice. I look forward to your next post about what you did to overcome your shyness. Its great for others to share their experiences because you never know who is watching (or reading) and you may change their life.....
